HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. It is the hormone created by the developing placenta right after conception. Our pregnancy test kit helps detect the presence of HCG found in your urine.
It typically takes 2 – 3 days after implantation for your embryo to make detectable HCG for our test kit to work. Meaning, most women won’t get positive readings they are pregnant, until 11 days past ovulation.
We recommend you test as early as possible. In order to ensure you are getting the most accurate reading test the day your next period is supposed to begin.
- Dip the strip into your urine specimen.
- Take the strip out after 5 seconds.
- Lay the strip flat.
- Read results in 5 minutes.
READING YOUR TEST STRIPS
POSITIVE READINGS MEANING YOU ARE LIKELY PREGNANT:
When two color bands appear in the Control amp; Test Zones. Keep in mind, the color intensity of the two bands may vary because of the concentration levels of HCG that change during different stages of pregnancy. Even if the two bands appear light you most likely are pregnant. Even with a positive test result you may want to test the following day was well; to confirm the initial positive reading.
NEGATIVE READINGS mean you are not pregnant. You will see only 1 color band appearing in the control zone while no color band will appear in the test zone. Meaning the test strip is not picking up enough of a level of HCG to indicate on the test.
INVALID READINGS mean that no bands become visible on the test strip or there is only a band in the test region and not in the control zone region.
When is the best time to test?
You can test your urine at any time; however, many doctors recommend testing your first urine sample in the morning. This is because your morning sample after you wake up from a long rest period typically contains the highest levels of HCG to detect.
Can I store the test strips after use?
No, it’s recommended to read the test results right after the 5-minute wait period. We include a monthly test tracker to record your responses. A positive result may not change for a couple of days on your test strip while a negative response may change to a false positive shortly after the 5-minute wait period, which would give an you a false reading.
How should I store my test strips?
Please do not reuse test strips. Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight or heat. Store in room temperature between 39°F-86°F.
